I said he is going to be overrated from this fight and that's what i meant. Calzaghe and Pac are going to be seen as these greats who beat washed up fighers, you can't be great cause you beat guys that WERE once great. I'll still give Pac p4p for now cause he fought JMM and even though he could've easily lost both decisions they were both close fights and i have JMM very high on the p4p list. Calzaghe i got nothing positive for. All his wins are against old fighters not in their primes except for Kessler who came in injured and hadn't trained the last 3 weeks of that fight. Oscar was obviously a shell of his self. Hatton vs. Pac will probably be next and i don't think either guy will gas. I always said Hatton was overrated and Mayweather spanked him and proved it. But these two would be almost the same fighter. The problem is Hatton hasn't looked comfortable at 147 so i'd rather see them fight at 140 and i'm not sure who wins, i can't judge Pac on this fight in a higher weight he was fighting a punching bag. But against Mayweather at either weight neither guy wins, ever. There is always that chance about the weight cutting like i said about Diego cutting to 155, it could backfire and maybe that happened to Oscar, he hasn't seen 147 since Gatti and that was in early 2001. He came in light meaning he went overboard to make weight. If true or even if not he might use that as an excuse to make another super fight at 154 and say now he feels great, we'll see. This was no Cruz curse, i bet money on Margarito to beat Cotto and you seen what happened there. I picked Rashad over Chuck you seen what happened there. I'm not perfect but i'm close.

I'll agree with you on Calzaghe on pretty much all the points you made. However, Pac Man is a different ordeal, no matter how you look at it. For example, based on your beating up on washed up fighters, your saying when Pac Man destroyed Barrera in their first fight, Barrera was washed up? I find that hard to believe. I'll make the argument that when Pac Man beat Morales in the second fight Morales was on the decline (as was seen in the Raheem fight that he lost). However, he did beat JMM regardless of whether how each of us sees it, it goes down as a win in the record book against a Great Fighter. DLH is a shell of himself, which I'll agree, but you can't take away how dominant this performance was. There aren't too many fighters I can see right now that stand up with Manny, including Hatton, with the exception of JMM. Manny has beaten Four Hall of Famers, whom were around their prime or just slightly passed it with the exception of DLH. Edited by Dralion, Dec 7 2008, 06:20 PM.

He did beat Barerra in the first fight but Barrera didn't box with skills he tried to slug like a maniac with someone that punches harder, that was just a dumb gameplan, had he boxed it would've been different. The 2nd fight he was obviously washed up. If i think someone beat someone i don't count that as a win and those Marquez fights were real close, he didn't dominate and maybe not even beat a guy that was a true p4p guy in his prime but he did do well so he does get credit for doing well in those fights against a guy that obviously showed he was a superior boxer as far as skills. This Oscar fight i give him nothing really other than throwing punches, i think just about anyone would've whooped up Oscar that was decent. To me he is still overrated. He can beat up Hatton and i'll give him credit for beating up a 'bigger' fighter but to me Hatton isn't skilled, just a tough, cardio guy that goes and goes. Now if he can somehow beat Mayweather there's really nothing to say or a Cotto for that matter. As a matter of fact since the Mayweather fight might not happen until Mayweather's been out a while and possibly a little rusty i'd rather see Pac vs. Cotto. If he wins that fight be anyway, good decision not Marquez like, or KO then shit he's the man. |

Whatever way you slice it Pac Man is pound for pound one of the best boxers period. He just went up 2 weight classes and fought a guy who's been fighting at the top of that division for years now. |

Exactly for years now and didn't look anything like a prime fighter or hall of famer and hadn't fought at that weight in a long time. Hopefully he beats Hatton then gets Floyd or Cotto so we can judge him against a skilled and younger fighter. I don't think he'll get blown away by Cotto but i do think he loses. That would still make him look good. |
