Unfortunaley with the freak show news of Kimbo/Toney lately we've all forgotten about what we should be talking about this weekend and it's these 2 great matchups. Both fights have serious ramifications on the Top 10 Bantamweight rankings.

It would be a hard match for him if they were the same size, this is going to be extremely hard for him to do any damage to Torres. I think Cruz can give Bowles more of a fight than most would think. Are we done with pickems or what, there was no thread made for this event and it's too late now?

If Bowles beats Cruz I think you have to give him serious consideration for breaking the Top 10 for p4p rankings. He has wins over Torres, Will Ribeiro, Damacio Page, Marcos Galvao and Charlie Valencia already, with them all being finishes.

I'm the Juggernaut Bitch! Posts: 14,127 Group: Admin Member #1 Joined: October 14, 2005	Great wins by Joe and Cruz. Cruz not only gave him a fight like i thought but stopped him. Joe blew me away with how he handled Torres. Torres always fights like a small guy when he's huge for that division and i thought he would use his size this time and he didn't and it backfired again bigtime. I cannot believe he got subbed by a guillotine and for the first time now by such a small fighter. I give Joe all the credit in the world cause of his performance but after the Mizugaki fight i started questioning Torres a little because he should've had him out of there and Mizugaki came back a couple times in that fight AND lasted 5 rounds. Maybe Torres is finally starting to decline and it's crazy cause age wise he's still real young, but he fought so much in the last 10 years i think it's caught up to him. Joe vs. Cruz should be good but i think Joe gets him this time around since he knows what's coming.

He's local and I do like to root for the local guy however it just seems to me that sometimes Torres tries to be a badass with his facial expressions more than his actions in the cage. When a fighter believes in the hype around himself, he loses his edge. It's also nice to point out how a small guy like Joe can be an advantage because he is a small target. when his hands are up, he's blocking a significant portion of himself automatically whereas a taller fighter has much more room to cover. That seemed to work to his benefit last night as Torres was reluctant to engage possibly because he couldn't find an opening.

Redemption on May 08, 2010 Posts: 3,131 Group: Members Member #3 Joined: October 14, 2005	I think I've seen all of Cruz's WEC fights and I DO NOT ever remember being that impressed with him. From what I can remember he did just enough to decision Benavidez by staying on the outside and stopping the take downs. But last night he looked really good. He was fast and moved around a lot and really pushed the pace. I don't see Benavidez beating him in the rematch either. Cruz's got the TD defense and he knows how to use his reach.

Probably has to be Scott Jorgensen or Damacio Page. i would get jorgensen as well since he had a highlight reel win and benevidez like you said just got beat. i really like cruz and the way he fought the other night was sick, really fun to watch someone who can move that quick. thats why the lighter weights are so good. and in regards to torres that submission was really nothing to do with benevidez as it was due to the nasty cut that had just happened. you could tell after that cut and the blood torres was done. taking nothing away from joe but that fight was getting stopped no matter what anyway that cut was terrible. I'm surprised kicks weren't used more by Bowles to try and help slow Cruz down a bit. He might not be that comfortable with kicks.
